MOVIES IN THE PARK AUGUST 24th...

Movies under the Stars begin in August with FREE popcorn.  Grab the chairs and blankWonder-Bull parkets to enjoy movies on the big screen outdoors in our parks as the sun goes down August - October.  Don’t forget the kids and enjoy the evening.

This Year’s Schedule: 

 “WONDER” August 24 @8 pm in Bull Park 716 Ocean Blvd.  A movie based on the award winning novel by R.J. Palacio

HOME” September 28 @7:45 pm in Donner Park 2072 George St.  An animated  comedy movie with all star cast  

INCREDIBLES 2” October 20 @ 7:45 pm in Russell Park, corner of Seminole Rd and Plaza Dr.  An animated super hero feature by Pixar

Host, Mike Shackelford and friends will be in Bull Memorial Park for concert in the Park under the swaying palm trees with the ocean breeze!  It doesn't get any better than this on a beautiful summer evening  as you enjoy the music on your blanket, in your chair or standing around with neighbors and friends, listening to the musical talent of local singers of all ages.  Come rain or shine.  In event of inclement weather, the event moves indoors at the Adele Grage Theater in Bull Park.

Come hungry, Nitrogen Creamery  will be available for dinner from 5-8:30 pm on 7th St. at East Coast Dr.

Bull Memorial Park is located on the corner of 7th St. & East Coast Drive.  Ride, Walk, Run or Drive, it's going to be a great evening!  Performers should contact host Mike Shackelford at (904)610-7461. Prepare two original songs of 7-8 minutes combined maximum.

The Atlantic Beach Inaugural Jazz Festival

FINAL POSTER

Sponsored by the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee, brings Jazz to the community with this Inaugural event on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 3-8 pm.  

WJXT Morning Show Anchor, Nikki Kimbleton will be the guest emcee welcoming jazz band ensembles:  The University of North Florida Jazz Ensemble I; The Kelly/JB Scott Sextet with Dave Steinmeyer; The Gary Starling Group; and The Chris Thomas Big Band.  Bring your chairs and blankets, sit up front near the stage, kick back and relax in the tree canopy park.  The City will also provide chairs in the back for those who prefer solid seating.

Food vendors Culhane's Irish Pub, Kosmos Kettle Korn, Mangroves and Shakti Kitchen along with food trucks Balu's Surf Shack, Mother Truckin' Pizza, What's Smokin' will have food and drinks for purchase (ID required for Culhane's Irish Pub tent).  An afternoon and evening event you won't want to miss at Johansen Park - 1300 Seminole Road Atlantic Beach.

FLAG FOOTBALL IS BACK.....

Co-ed Flag Football is back for the fall season.  Teams will be formed for ages 5-12, games will begin in October.  Registration starts Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Recreation office, located at 716 Ocean Blvd or the Baker Center from 8 am - 4 pm.  Fee is $10 per child.  All games will be played at Donner Park, Atlantic Beach.  Championship games with trophies will be the highlights of the fall.  Join us on the field.    Register here.  (Application will not be available until September 10th.)Football

Thursday, August 16 from 5-8 pm, during The Beaches Town Center Art Walk @ The Adele Grage Gallery in Bull Park...

Make the Adele Grage Gallery, in Bull Park your first/last stop at the Featured Artist Reception during the North Beaches Art Walk at 716 Ocean Blvd. and meet the featured photography artist for August, first time ever on exhibit, John Rennie.  Free and open to the public 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16 come  Rain or shine and enjoy light refreshments and snacks.

Call or text Beachside Buggies for a ride back and forth between the Adele Grage Center and Town Center during Art Walk at 904-887-4441.  They operate on tips only!  Don't lose your parking spot, just hop aboard.

DuoCARAC SPONOSRED- Talent in our own backyard! Brought to you by the City of Atlantic Beach Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee. Enjoy the original sounds by local talent in the Adele Grage Theater.  Come inside the theater, out of the heat, you'll be glad you did!  Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

Whether you write, sing, play or simply enjoy listening to good music, plan on being with us. Hosted by Mike Shackelford, local performers transform the Adele Grage Theater from 6-8 pm with original music creations. Light snacks and refreshments served.

Seating is first come-first served for this admission-free, alcohol-free event.

INTRACOASTAL PADDLE TOUR This Sunday

Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Atlantic Beach by way of paddles (paddle board or kayak)  
Paddle Tour @ Dutton Island kayak launch (south end).  

Why not explore our local marsh trails and parks by waterway?  Tours begin with a demonstration for beginner paddlers followed by a guided one hour tour.  Enjoy the local flora and fauna, meet new people as you get comfortable with the water routes for future paddling.  The goal of the session is to paddle from Dutton Island Park to Tideviews Preserve Park (depending on skill level and weather).

                                                               Come enjoy an easy afternoon paddle in your backyard!

Atlantic Beach is your beach.  Please enjoy our beautiful beaches, keep it clean, and only leave footprints & paw prints behind.

The City of Atlantic Beach allows leashed dogs on the beach, except while in the water. Please respect your fellow beach goers. 

Weddings on the beach require a permit issued at the Recreation Department.

Please dispose of all trash and pet droppings in the trash receptacles provided at each beach access. 

Respect others while on the beach and be safe.  Thank you for making  "your" Atlantic Beach beautiful!
