April 2017: The City has budgeted $330,000 for resurfacing streets this year. This is an annual maintenance activity that has occurred at approximately the same level for over 15 years. City streets are routinely evaluated using the same criteria approximately every 3 years. This year the streets that are rated to be in the worse condition will be milled and overlayed with approximately 1-¼ inch of new asphalt. This will improve the riding surface and help maintain the structural integrity of the road. Rerating of all City streets is also planned for this year after resurfacing is complete. This will help us plan future resurfacing programs.
Seminole Road, from Plaza north to Hanna Park, has recently been completed as this year's resurfacing program. A list of roads to be resurfaced in 2017 will be released later this year.
Atlantic Blvd. in Town Center was resurfaced in December 2016 in conjunction with Neptune Beach’s resurfacing program.
The roads to be resurfaced in 2017 will go out for bids in April.
