Off Duty Police Officer Request
The Atlantic Beach Police Department allows citizens to hire off-duty police officers to perform security and traffic control services. Officers are often hired to provide security and traffic control at large and small events, traffic control for projects in the roadway, security, and many other situations.
The hourly rate of pay charged by Atlantic Beach Police Department is $50.00 per hour with a 4 hour minimum for off duty police services, such as: residential parties, estate sales, security jobs and traffic control. Cancellations may be made at any time, however if the cancellation is less than 24 hours before the start of the requested time, a minimum of 4 hours salary will be incurred by the requesting party. The hourly rate of pay on the following days (dates) is $75.00 per hour, with a 4 hour minimum: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
If a police vehicle is needed to perform the job duties, an additional $25.00 fee per day/per vehicle is required, payable to the City of Atlantic Beach. A marked police vehicle is required with all traffic related off duty employment such as road construction and repairs. The police vehicle fee is required to offset the cost of the vehicle’s fuel and maintenance. This fee may be waived by the off duty employment supervisor, depending on the nature of the vehicle’s usage.
The City of Atlantic Beach reserves the right to refuse or discontinue off duty police officer services that are deemed to be in conflict with the best interests of the City or the Police Department.
