Sustainable Earth Award Winners - Word Revolt Gallery

Word Revolt Gallery held a Sustainable Earth Exhibition and Art Competition for Earth Day. The featured artwork represented the theme of “sustainability” and what it means to celebrate caring for our planet and local environment’s natural beauty or offering a creative solution to the world to help keep it green. Some winners of the competition are displayed at the gallery – including Leigh Slayden and Gail Beveridge. Other winners include: Pearl Fuglestad, Zora Jane Slayden, Elizabeth Shepard, Linda Chipperfield, and Rebecca Campbell.

About the Artist

Gail Beveridge


Bio:

Gail Beveridge fell in love with art while growing up in Philadelphia and being exposed to various art media in school and while visiting the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Art is her outlet for expression and has guided her through life, first with a career in interior design and subsequently as a sculptor and now a painter. She has a Bachelor of Design degree with honors from the University of Florida and has participated in many juried exhibits, shows, and galleries. Her art was featured in exhibits at Jacksonville International Airport in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Leigh Slayden


Bio:

Leigh Slayden, a lifelong artist, spent years mastering oil colors. She enjoys painting the beauty of nature, the history shown in architecture and ruins, and scenes from her travels. Her early work focused on the human figure and she most recently has taken portrait commissions. She has an art degree, received public art grants, and has participated in juried shows throughout Jacksonville, Atlantic Beach, and St. Augustine.
