JEA is trimming trees near power lines to better ensure that the utility provides consistent, reliable electrical service.
The seven- to eight-week project began Jan. 20. JEA says that it follows best tree-care practices by trimming trees throughout its service area every 2.5 years. The professional contractor hired by JEA, Trees LLC, uses proper arboricultural methods that are best for the long-term health of trees, and also removes potentially dangerous branches, the utility says.
The tree-trimmers ensure that there is a 10-foot clearance around electric lines, JEA says, and JEA offers chips from the trimmings to use as mulch.
Detailed information about JEA’s tree-trimming practices is posted at https://www.jea.com/About/Electric_Systems/Reliability/Vegetation_Management/Tree_Trimming/
