Jacksonville Officials and Telescope Health Launch no-cost COVID-19 Testing Site At the Beaches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., JULY 14, 2020Telescope Health, in partnership with the City of Jacksonville, will open a COVID-19 testing site this Thursday, July 16th in Neptune Beach to provide beaches-area residents with convenient access to crucial testing services. The testing site is located inside the former Kmart shopping center at 540 Atlantic Blvd., Neptune Beach, Florida 32266. Telescope Health, Jacksonville’s local telemedicine provider, will offer viral swab tests to identify active infections, and blood antibody tests for individuals who may have previously been exposed to the virus.

“We are pleased to offer the beaches residents with convenient access to coronavirus testing,” said Dr. Matthew Rill, Co-Founder and CEO of Telescope Health. “As our entire community continues to experience dealing with COVID-19, making sites available throughout Jacksonville is an important step in addressing public health. Our partnership with the City of Jacksonville allows us to work with the leaders of Atlantic, Jacksonville and Neptune Beach to bring free services to their residents.”

Operational hours will be every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 7a.m. – 3p.m. Testing during the first hour of operations, from 7a.m. – 8a.m., will be reserved for high-risk individuals, ages 65 and older or those with underlying medical conditions as well as first responders and health care workers with symptoms. Individuals must be prepared to show proof of Duval County residency or City of Jacksonville employment to be tested.

“We’ve been very proactive since the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic, working with our medical professionals, including Telescope Health, to ensure that all Jacksonville residents have access to testing,” said Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry. “Continuing to increase the testing capacity throughout all of Jacksonville’s neighborhoods is an important part of helping to stop the spread of this virus.”
