The cities of Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville Beach, and Neptune Beach have received many inquiries on when beaches citizens will be able to receive recently approved and distributed COVID-19 Vaccinations. Our local municipal governments do not have control over distribution or access to vaccines; this is being handled by the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Department of Health in Duval County.
We applaud and support the incredible work of everyone working on distributing the vaccine to Duval County residents as quickly and safely as possible in an ever-changing environment.
As of January 12, the vaccines are only available to the following groups in Duval County:
- Long-term care facility residents and staff
- Persons 65 years of age and older
- Health care personnel with direct patient contact
- Persons deemed to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by hospital providers
