COVID-19 Vaccine Update, January 12, 2021

The cities of Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville Beach, and Neptune Beach have received many inquiries on when beaches citizens will be able to receive recently approved and distributed COVID-19 Vaccinations. Our local municipal governments do not have control over distribution or access to vaccines; this is being handled by the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Department of Health in Duval County.

We applaud and support the incredible work of everyone working on distributing the vaccine to Duval County residents as quickly and safely as possible in an ever-changing environment.

As of January 12, the vaccines are only available to the following groups in Duval County:

  • Long-term care facility residents and staff
  • Persons 65 years of age and older
  • Health care personnel with direct patient contact
  • Persons deemed to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by hospital providers

For complete and up-to-date information regarding COVID-19 and Vaccine Distribution visit: https://www.jaxready.com/SpecialPages/COVID-19-Information.aspx

This page details where to get a vaccine, who is eligible on what day, form requirements, and more. As of January 12, vaccines at these locations are first come, first served; no appointments are available.

For information on how to make an appointment to get a Vaccine at the Prime Osborn Convention Center, visit: http://duval.floridahealth.gov/programs-and-services/emergency-preparedness-and-response/vaccinationappointments.html

Beaches Mayors Glasser, Brown, and Hoffman are in constant communication with Duval County officials and will continue to work to keep Beaches residents updated and informed.

There is a large surge in local COVID-19 cases; Beaches residents are urged to social distance, wear masks, and to stay home when not feeling well. COVID-19 testing information in Duval County remains widely available. Complete information can be found here: https://www.jaxready.com/covid-19testing
