Especially due to concern about the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists in our increasingly active community, the City of Atlantic Beach is conducting a speed limit review for City-owned streets. U.S. Department of Transportation data confirms that lower speed limits result in a safer community.
Atlantic Beach property owners, residents and business operators: As we kick off a community discussion on this topic, will you please share your thoughts with us by completing a survey? Following are some options that have not been vetted; we are just getting the conversation started.
Please note that Atlantic Boulevard and Mayport Road are not part of this review because they are state-owned and, thus, the City does not set those speed limits.
